The year of Doing

In the book The Millionaire Fastlane, MJ de Marco mentions that amateur entrepreneurs focus too much on creating a business plan when really, “the best business plan in the world is a track record of execution”.

This applies to so much more than business; it’s the eternal “actions speak louder than words” idea.

We are what we repeatedly do.

This is a follow-up post to last week’s because I feel I failed to deliver an important side note to goal (or quest) setting. There is no amount of preparation that will overcome inaction inertia. Resistance takes shape in many subtle forms (procrastination, jealousy, doubt, distractions, etc.) and we have to learn to recognize, acknowledge and fight against it to provide an avenue for our goals and aspirations to develop and be realized.

The journey of a thousand miles beings with a single step, yet is unreachable without the hundreds of thousands of steps after the first one. So with your goals and quests already written down, go make 2018 the year of doing. If you accomplish any task today, make it one that will, with the passing of each day, get you closer to where you aspire to be.

If you thought these past two posts were insightful and would like to get further psyched up for the things you'll accomplish once you start doing, I highly suggest looking up the books The Happiness of Pursuit by Chris Guillebeau and The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.
